Last week, I spoke to a few clients of mine, who wondered whether they should have contact form on their website, and if it does any good to their website. So today, found an article from ContactUs.com, which will explain exactly why it is essential to have contact us form on your website:

  1. It’s more convenient for users. They can contact you directly from your site without having to open their email account to send a message.
  2. It’s more secure. Generally, data submitted via contact forms is better encrypted than messages sent with an email. This benefits users who may feel the need to provide sensitive information (like credit card numbers) in their electronic communications.
  3. It guarantees that you’ll receive the message. If a person sends you an email, it could get caught in your spam folders. Contact forms are designed to be sent to a dedicated email account or another easy-to-access portal.
  4. Customers can contact you at all hours. A phone number on your site may only be answered during business hours. If someone wants to contact you at night or on the weekend, a contact form lets them do that.
  5. It helps you get more information. You can learn more about a site visitor than just his or her email address. If they have to fill out their name, address, phone number, and other information, you can follow up the lead more effectively.
  6. You can provide better service. If users can stipulate what their particular issue is (perhaps using a drop-down menu on the form), the message can more easily be routed to the person in a company that can help them – instead of someone having to read each email to figure that out.
  7. You can customize it to suit your site’s particular needs. Creating a contact form that collects only the information you need is much preferred to having to wade through a long email to find out why the person communicated with you.
  8. It makes data easier to analyze. Contact form data can be routed directly into a database, so you can spot patterns regarding who is reaching out to you and what their interests and needs may be.
  9. It helps your customer relationship management. Data from a contact form can be routed directly to your CRM system. This can lead to more effective lead generation and better customer service by your sales reps.
  10. It’s more mobile-friendly. Imagine trying to type out an email on a smartphone or even a tablet. Filling out a contact form lessens that burden for the user.
  11. It can collect donations. If you’re a nonprofit or charity, you can configure your contact form to accept customer donations electronically via PayPal and/or credit or debit cards. Email can’t do that!
  12. It can be shown to site browsers whenever you want. You can “trigger” your contact form to appear onscreen when a user visits a certain page, clicks a specific link, or stays on your site for a predetermined length of time.
  13. It’s a better “call to action.” An email address or phone number is more passive in reaching out to new users or customers. A contact form proactively solicits input from the user, which can result in more leads, customers, and revenue!
